The pilot project ran in two schools and examined the feasibility of introducing audio-visual technology courses consisting of computer and DVD use in all areas of the curriculum. The teachers received training to enable them to best utilize the new technology in the classroom. This program was well received by the students, teachers and government, so The Rotary Club of Welland, with additional funding by the Candelaria Rotary Club and Rotary International, upgraded all of the classrooms in the district. The latest media educational equipment was provided to twenty-four elementary schools, five high schools and two special education schools, representing a total of 45,000 students. The new equipment and technology has substantially improved the students’ education experience.
